Instrcutors

All WCKA Instructors are certified in at least 'Level 2 Coaching, Refereeing, First Aid,  'Safeguarding & Child-protection' and are DBS checked.

Miss Lesley Fletcher, 

2nd Degree Black Belt, 

Club Instrcutor

 

Miss Fletcher started her training in 2004 at the Holm View and Barry leisure centres. In just a few months she started competing and winning at various competitions all over the country. Most notably at the Combat Champion Leagues and WAKO tournaments. 

In 2005 Miss Fletcher fought in the infamous Irish International open at Dublin. A very tough tournament due to having over 2000 competitors however it was a near miss and she lost out on just 3 points with the final score totally 11 - 9.

By 2006 Miss Fletcher took a year out to look after her newborn daughter Emily, who is now part of the lil' dragons training academy. By 2007 Lesley rejoined and started the leadership programme, gaining certificates in Coaching, Child Protection, First aid and Refereeing. Acting as an assistant instructor at the Penarth, Barry, Rhoose & Dinas Powys club, she developed her leadership and coaching skills.

Miss Fletcher finally managed to open her own club in St Athan in Decemeber 2010 and within the same year opened a club in Cowbridge, which has subsequently been moved to Pontyclun.

 

Mr Michael Eveleigh, 

2nd Degree Black Belt, 

Instrcutor

 

Mr Eveleigh began training in 2004, practicing karate and kickboxing in Barry under Master Clifton Brown. He began training for various tournaments both nationally and internationally.

 

By 2006 Mr Eveleigh began training under Master Derek Hughes (5th Degree Black Belt) and under his supervision achieved the title of Welsh National Champion in 2007. He also fought in the Irish open in 2005 and 2007. In 2008 Michael attempted the British Championships and also the Combat Champion Leagues  while also claiming first place in the WKA world cup qualifiers in 2009. 

Since 2010 Mr Eveleigh has been instructing alongside Miss Fletcher with her clubs. Mr Eveleigh leads the club CPR efforts as he is currently a FIrst Responder with the Welsh Ambulance Service NHS Trust.
